Use Case: 16 Dupont Street – Smart Security for Smart Living in Brooklyn
Project Overview
As part of Brooklyn’s ambitious Greenpoint Landing master plan, 16 Dupont Street offers a sleek 40-story residential experience along the waterfront. Developed by Rockefeller Group and Park Tower Group and built by Monadnock Construction, the building includes 381 rental units, street-level retail and 138 indoor parking spaces. Designed by GKV Architects, the tower reflects a lifestyle built around convenience, mobility and digital access.
The SMS Approach
Security Management Systems (SMS) was brought in to design and deploy a fully integrated access and surveillance system to match the building’s smart-living aspirations. The goal was simple: give residents and staff a secure, streamlined way to manage entry – without the hassle of multiple platforms or hardware solutions.
Technology Highlights
Integrated solutions included:
420 Comelit apartment intercom units for tenant communication
450 doors using the Latch smart access control system
100 Vivotek surveillance cameras managed through Exacq VMS
Area of refuge intercom systems to support life safety compliance
Results
With mobile-first access and centralized control, 16 Dupont now operates with a single, cohesive security platform. Residents can enter apartments, access amenities and manage visitors all from their smartphones, while building management gains greater oversight and efficiency. SMS delivered a user-friendly system that meets the expectations of today’s tech-savvy residents.
